They’ve also introduced reduced pricing when you pay for the year up front, not sure if you get the permanent license straight away or have to wait until the end of the year, but I don’t think it’s that big a deal seeing as you get use of the plug you want to buy outright plus all the rest, plus whatever else they release over the course of the year. But if I do it’s imho not a bad deal all things considered. I’ve been in on this more or less since the start mainly to get the Jupiter and Juno - but since got a System 8 so that’s covered - will have to assess whether to cut and run with the D50 when my year rolls around. The way I look at it is this: a little under €200 for a year’s sub with one permanent license at the end is fine so long as there’s at least one plugin I’d happily have paid €150 for in there, €50 is ok by me for the use of the rest of them for the year. I do NOT care for the rental system Roland has chosen. I've got super-fast internet so shouldn't take hours. I've tried quitting Cloud Manager are starting over and same result. Still looking forward to another analogue poly model to round out my System 8 though.I'm also having an issue installing. and to be fair they're doing ok on that front so far. The only way Roland can keep justifying the subscription for me is by constantly adding and updating content. This wasn't a model I was crying out for, although like I say I had considered getting one in the past and I'm happy to have it (whenever it starts working). Mine popped up in my cloud account but didn't seem to install properly, so I thought I'd un/reinstall, but it doesn't seem like the installer has downloaded.Īnyway, I'm sure it will work out eventually. Tbh though, I'm more interested in the music I'll make in 2018 with this than what might or might not happen in 20 years time. On the other hand, I've thought a few times about getting a 1080 but I don't have the rack space.
